Guided imagery is a relaxation technique used to manage stress. It involves visualizing positive, peaceful settings.
Indulge in a vivid daydream that quickly calms & relaxes your mind. Also known as guided meditation, it increases intuition and resilience towards stress. Practicing guided imagery gets you into a deeply relaxed state providing relief in physical tension & psychological stress.
There are many ways to experience & learn this technique. There are many resources available. I prefer creating the space myself, & here's how you can do that.
- Get Comfy
Find a spot where you will be undisturbed by your environment & get in a physically comfortable position
- Breathe
Close your eyes & just breathe. Take some deep breaths & then relax your breathing
- Imagine
With your eyes closed, visualize your scene. Remote cabin, beach, favorite childhood place? Find inside you where you want your happy place to be. It can be anywhere. You get to design it
- Create
Create the details. What does it look like? See it in your mind. How does it feel? How do you feel? Use all of your senses. What does it smell like? Temperature? Take in the details & change them as needed to create your happy place
- Relax
Keep those eyes closed, breathe & stay here, in your happy place for a bit. Take it in. Enjoy calming down. Once you feel ready to come back relaxed & calm, tell yourself that you enjoyed your moment & give thanks for the ability to reset & refocus
Visit your happy place as often as you wish to. Reset & refocus as many times as you need to
intuition & resil
